Anshu and the Power of Daily Worship
A Story of Faith, Discipline & Gratitude
The Story
Anshu was a cheerful boy who loved learning new things. Every morning, he visited the templeमंदिर — a place of worship with his grandmother. The templeमंदिर — a place of worship was a holyपवित्र — pure and sacred place where people came for worshipपूजा — prayer and reverence. At the top of the temple, a sacred flagध्वज — a holy banner moved gently in the wind, making Anshu feel peaceful.
Before starting the prayer, Anshu helped light the incense sticksअगरबत्ती — fragrant sticks burned during prayer and a small lampदीया — an oil lamp lit in worship. The sweet smell filled the air. He rang the bellघंटी — rung to begin prayer softly and stood in front of the idolमूर्ति — a statue or image of a deity. People brought offeringsचढ़ावा — flowers and fruits offered to God like flowers and fruits to show love and respect to God.
One day, Anshu asked his grandmother, "Why do we come here every day?" She replied, "This place is sacredपावन — deeply holy and pure. When we pray, we learn discipline, kindness, and respect. Worship teaches us to be calm and thankful." Anshu listened carefully and began to understand the value of prayer.
The priestपुजारी — one who performs religious rituals started the aartiआरती — a ritual of light offered to God, and everyone sang together. The temple looked bright and peaceful. After the prayer, Anshu received prasadप्रसाद — blessed food distributed after worship and shared it with others. He felt happy because sharing is a good habit.
From that day, Anshu changed. He became more helpful, polite, and responsible. He learned that visiting the temple was not just a routine — it was a way to build good habits and a strong character.
