Technology in agriculture - Positive or Negative?

Some people support the development of factory farming and the scientific creation of fruits and vegetables in agriculture, but others oppose these developments. Discuss both the views and give your own opinion.

The inclusion of scientific approaches and advanced technology in the field of agriculture has changed the face of agriculture. Bio-technological advancements, according to many, offer lot of benefits in many ways, but the same is considered as a negative development by many others. Both the arguments will be analysed before reaching to the final conclusion.

To commence, out of many positive reasons one of the major arguments to support such revolution is the opportunity to fight against the scarcity of food all over the globe. To illustrate, many parts of the world has been suffering with the lack of enough agriculture products, due to various reasons like climate, geography or other natural or manmade problems. In this scenario, the scientific methods will not only help us to produce crops, but also to increase the quantity like never before. In absence of genetically modified food the people of such parts of the world would have to starve. Moreover, such technology helps us to transport these fruits and vegetables in easy way. For example, products by factory farming may be modified to sustain for longer duration and can be modified in shapes too. Japan’s square water melon is the best example for this.

However, on the other hand, such practices in farming may have negative impacts on the quality of the produce. Crops grown with these methods are often given some harmful chemicals to grow faster, which may cause fatal diseases in human body in a longer run. Sometimes, such fruits and vegetables may cause some side effects and in this case they provide more danger than the nutrition they provide. But on the whole, with wise and controlled use of science these problems can be eliminated.

To recapitulated, after musing over both sides deeply, I personally avow that even though certain drawbacks of factory farming or other scientific techniques need to be taken care of, for higher amount to produce to meet the growing demand, for making it easier to transport and to have limitless opportunities to modify the food to meet our latest demands, such practices should be welcome.

Life is full vicissitudes, which we usually find quite challenging and complicated at many different levels. People often believe that these hardships of our lives usually leave valuable lessons for us in later life and I, too, opine that the most experiences that were difficult at the time become necessary lesson for the rest of life.  First of all, I strongly feel that experience is the best teacher. Security cameras should be there or not.

In the fight against crime, police forces and governments are increasingly using security cameras in public places. Some people are opposed to this, saying that it invades our privacy. What do you think?   Security cameras have become ubiquitous in many nations now-a-days. Whereas before they appeared only in banks and at high-security areas, they are now entering into public places such as malls, streets, stadiums and transport. Many people feel this snatches their privacy, but personally I believe though there are some negative impacts they are very essential. This essay will examine whether the advantages of these cameras outweigh their negative impact. To start with, the closed circuit television cameras not only keep watch in the buildings but provide strong evidences in case of robbery or loot. The police can catch criminals in the act, and can trim down crime. This will make the streets safer for ordinary people. For example, recently in my town one good l...
