New houses should be built in the same style or not

Essay:

The design of housing has long been a subject of debate. While some argue that new houses should reflect the traditional architecture of the local area, others believe individuals should have the freedom to choose their preferred style. Both views carry weight, and a balanced consideration is necessary.

(For anyone preparing for IELTS or PTE essay writing tasks, presenting balanced approach in discuss both the views essay can be tricky but at the same time, can be more rewarding😎)

On the one hand, constructing new houses in the same style as older ones helps maintain the cultural identity and aesthetic harmony of a neighbourhood. Traditional buildings often embody historical values, regional craftsmanship, and a sense of community continuity. If new constructions diverge drastically in appearance, the area may lose its architectural coherence and even its tourism appeal. For instance, many European towns preserve medieval façades to attract visitors and to ensure that residents feel connected to their heritage.

From an IELTS Writing Task 2/PTE Essay- perspective, this idea supports the argument with strong cultural and social evidence.

On the other hand, restricting people to one particular architectural style may limit creativity and personal expression. Housing is not merely about shelter but also about lifestyle and individual choice. Modern families may require practical designs, such as energy-efficient layouts, larger open spaces, or smart-home technology, which may not blend well with older styles. Allowing homeowners to design according to their needs can promote innovation and improve living standards.

This is a strong point to use in both IELTS essays and PTE writing tasks, as it demonstrates awareness of contemporary global issues.

In my opinion, a middle ground is the most reasonable approach. Local authorities should preserve the character of historically significant zones, where heritage is a collective asset. At the same time, in suburban or newly developed areas, individuals should have the liberty to design houses that reflect their own preferences and contemporary needs.

For aspirants aiming for band 8 IELTS essays or high-scoring PTE written discourse, this kind of balanced opinion showcases critical thinking and strong cohesion.

In conclusion, maintaining traditional architecture helps protect cultural identity, whereas freedom of design encourages innovation and personal satisfaction. A combination of these approaches would ensure that cities remain both historically meaningful and forward-looking, ultimately benefiting society as a whole.

Security cameras should be there or not.

In the fight against crime, police forces and governments are increasingly using security cameras in public places. Some people are opposed to this, saying that it invades our privacy. What do you think?   Security cameras have become ubiquitous in many nations now-a-days. Whereas before they appeared only in banks and at high-security areas, they are now entering into public places such as malls, streets, stadiums and transport. Many people feel this snatches their privacy, but personally I believe though there are some negative impacts they are very essential. This essay will examine whether the advantages of these cameras outweigh their negative impact. To start with, the closed circuit television cameras not only keep watch in the buildings but provide strong evidences in case of robbery or loot. The police can catch criminals in the act, and can trim down crime. This will make the streets safer for ordinary people. For example, recently in my town one good l...
