How to write an effective introduction?

IELTS WRITING TASK-2 (ESSAY WRITING) INTRODUCTION

In your first paragraph of essay writing you will need to introduce your topic of writing. You can be asked either situation based essay (causes, consequences, solution of a situation) or opinion based (agree/ disagree) essay. In both the cases you can go through some easy ways of writing a good introduction.

 Wherein you can write any stock sentences like this,
  1. Introductory sentence to introduce topic 
  2. One side of the question 
  3.  Another side of the question 
  4. Your own opinion 
  5. Thesis
     In opinion based essay you may start like this… (This is just a sample passage, better if you bring some minor changes and make them quite impressive rather than making it a stuff, refer examples given below) 
  1. Now-a-days _________has become very common practice/ important part/ part and parcel of our daily lives. 
  2. Some people favour this/ believe this is beneficial to human kind/ good for the society,
  3. Whereas/ however others strongly oppose this considering its dangerous effects on the society/ human kind. (Or you can write (2and 3) like this …here the concern is that whether this is a good or a dangerous practice for any nation.)
  4. In my personal opinion/ I personally believe that______is very much useful for us/nation/society/human kind// believe that____is detrimental to our society/human kind/any nation to a major extent. 
  5. Herein I have given some strong reasons to support my view.

Few examples
(Note changes in each sentence with maintaining their purpose)
  •      Some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think governments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
1) Space exploration has become very common practice in every country now-a-days. 
2)    Many people that space exploration attracts many benefits.
3)  However others feel it is a massive waste of money as it is not a prior need of any nation.
4)   Personally I believe space exploration enriches mankind and brings more advantages than disadvantages.
5)    I have given some strong reasons to support my view in this essay.

  •  Some famous athletes and entertainers earn millions of dollars every year. Do you think these people deserve such high salaries? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
        1) Celebrities draw lucrative salaries in these days.2) some people are not happy with this huge remuneration of them 3) whereas others believe that they really deserve every penny. 4) In my point of view every athlete or entertainers purely deserve these handsome payments. 5) I have some strong reasons to support my view. Let us discuss in detail.

This is just one of the simplest method of writing an introduction. The examples I have provided here are of quite basic level, you can enhance your band score by using some better lexical resources. I will keep uploading some more examples very soon. Till that you just keep in mind the function and purpose of writing an introduction of an essay and try to write number of introductions yourself by the method I suggested above.
